Stefan Dotter, ( born 16th of April 1993, Bamberg, Germany ) Japan based, German artist known for his uniform simplistic handwriting that seeks to bring about the underlying essence of perceived truths, often working with old medium format cameras and an intricate printing process.
In 2019, Dotter teamed up with UNHCR to educate returnees in photography in Afghanistan. In the wake of the swift and tragic Taliban takeover in 2021, Dotter spearheaded a global initiative, rallying a coalition of 100 artists, including luminaries like Alec Soth and Elaine Constantine. The aim was to raise awareness about the dire situation and fund the later successful evacuation of his students from Afghanistan to Brazil.
He has worked in advertising for brands such as Chanel, Cos, Dior, Hermes, Mame Kurogouchi, Nowness, The North Face and Thom Browne. His photos have appeared in a wide range of publications such as Atmos, British Journal of Photography, Document Journal, T Magazine, Purple, Re-Edition and various Vogues.
